Increase Web Usability with Design
Usability is unarguably the most important element for any website. It is the main ingredient that helps you to increase the traffic and generate users for your website, it’s a common practice to design the GUI (Graphic User Interface) of the website according to the user preferences and make it user friendly to retain the user and encourage them to spend more time on your website.
The main essence for creating a website is that any user can easily perform their tasks without any difficulties and most importantly enjoy the experience of using your website, because quite frankly no one want to read the details and descriptions. Users are mostly attracted towards the design and GUI and if they don’t found it interesting and entertaining, you might be losing some users for sure. Through optimal usability level of a website, the user is able to spontaneously perform the actions he wants to make on the webpage like pressing a particular button on the navigation leads to another action. But accomplishing web usability isn’t always easy for developers.
Below are the few important points that must be kept in mind to attain the usability for the end-users:
First and maybe the most important part is the LOADING time of a website. Because we all know how irritating is to wait till the website is properly loaded. If it takes too much time, most people will just leave. The loading time must be reasonable.
No one wants to ruin their eyesight just to read your blog! The background contrast must be considered in way that it will project your brand image and the color you use are pleasant and eye-catching. We are not saying that you use only BLACK and WHITE like an OLD Fashioned way but they must be adequate and used in such a manner that users find it pleasant and at the same time they represent the freshness in the design.
Font Style & Size:
Try to use fonts which are easily readable, poor readability can increase frustration, and frustration leads to site abandonment. Also, make sure your line spacing is sufficient – white-space is a designer’s best friend.
Company LOGO Placement:
Place your company name logo or trademark where it’s easy to find. Usually the upper-left side of the screen is most suitable and most people expect it, and they like it when you make their lives easy.
Website Purpose to Visitors:
Websites that are are full of unorganized details becomes difficult for user to understand. Your website should only contain information which is relevant and which can quickly and easily deliver your message to the user in short time frame. The categorization of the content is also important, make sure you write the relevant content on the particular pages, so that the users can find relevant information easily and are not mis-leaded.
It is one of the best navigation tools for your web usability. It can help user to track and navigate easily through your website, it’s a complete map of your website with hyperlinks and commonly used as tool to provide quick website information for surfing.
Site Search Bar:
Place a site search bar, so users can easily locate it to retrieve the desired information. Usability guidelines tend to prefer the upper right corner of the page for the search bar.
Contact Us/About Us Information:
Put the hyperlink to your Contact Us/About Us pages on almost every page of the website, so that user can access them any time during the visit.
Avoid extensive Ads & Pop-ups:
Yes we know very well that Ads are very important to run the expense for your website and impossible to ignore, but placing them in a smart way can be beneficial for both user and you.
